For students at Christ the Redeemer, the earliest a student may enroll in Confirmation I is 9th grade.  Our students are assigned a small group. We believe very strongly in small groups. It's in community that we grow together and are known. Our small groups start in middle school and journey together towards Christ and the sacrament of Confirmation.  Our Confirmation program is called "Encounter".  For session days and times, visit our information page for Encounter here: Encounter

It's in small groups the students build trust and are vulnerable in sharing with each other as we examine the Catholic faith to decide if each individual is ready to adopt it as their own. 

We have seen small groups have tremendous impacts on our young people at CtR. Since the focus is growing together as a group, you can't grow with the group if you're not there.  Students are allowed two excused absences each semester or a total of four for the school year. If a child misses a night, they must make up the work by watching the video for that lesson and answering the questions provided. These videos and worksheets are found on Edpuzzle. 

In the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, 10th grade is the "normative" (or, typical) time for students to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, but each person differs in when it is the right time for them to enter into formation for this Sacrament. The process of preparing for Confirmation should be prayerfully engaged in at a time when the person and their family are available and ready to commit their time, energy and attention to this special season of spiritual growth - whether that is as a teen or adult.

In order to be elibile for continuing on to Confirmation II, students must have good attendance (no more than 4 absences, completed make-up work does not 'erase' and absence), attend a retreat and complete service projects.

Students must attend a retreat for their Confirmation 1 year. They are able to choose between the Fall and Spring Retreats. The dates for the 2023-2024 year are December 1-3, 2023 and March 22-24, 2024.  The retreat will run from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon. The retreats will be held at Camp Cho-Yeh, students must ride the bus to and from the retreat.

Registration for each retreat opens on October 1 and closes three weeks before the retreat at 5pm or when all spots are full.

The cut-off day to register for both retreats is either

1. Once the retreat is full and/or
2. 3 weeks prior to the retreat date (which is also the cut-off date for refunds)

We realize all students are busy and parts of sports teams, extracurriculars, etc. In order to make it fair to every student who is giving up something to be on retreat, students must attend the entirety of the retreat. 

This retreat is not possible unless we have enough chaperones. All Chaperones must be at least 21 years of age and Safe Environment trained. Come with us!
